John Hirokawa, the flamboyant master of ceremonies for the hit show "Magic of Polynesia," is a self-described fitness fanatic who is uncompromising when it comes to his health. This 35-year-old father of three keeps himself in shape not just by exercising regularly and eating right, but by performing; his show requires him to run, jump, climb, and bend on a regular basis, not to mention glide down a 35-foot wire from ceiling to stage. After
obtaining a business administration degree from University of Hawai'i
at Manoa, Hirokawa set out to make it big in showbiz – and succeeded
spectacularly. These days, he can be found headlining at a 700-seat, $7.5
million showroom at the lush Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel. It took a lot
of hard work to get to the top, but he doesn't regret a minute of it.
As he points out, "Life is really short. We should strive to make
the most of it; live it to the fullest."
